It wasn't totally surprising for me to find out that the testosterone level of healthy young men has been dropping over the last 30 years and that the world's cancer societies (even after taking in billions of dollars in contributions and grants over the same time period and still are not closer to a cure) attribute the rise in certain cancers to excess estrogen or estrogen dominance.
If you've come to this blog, then you are certainly already familiar with what affect the exposure to estrogen producing chemicals and foods can have on your health and that of your family. There are steps you can take involving the use of vitamin supplements, herbs and preparations, as well as avoiding certain foods and other substance to combat this problem.
Soy
This a food that we really need to take a closer look at. In short, soy mimics estrogen and lowers testosterone. Even though, it has a long history of use in Asian countries, it was never consumed raw or simply cooked. The plant under went a firmentation process that made it safer for human consumption.
Right now the food industry is going absolutey nuts trying put soy and soy by products in practically all foods produced. It's being fed to livestock, because the protein is cheap to grow. I could be wrong, but I doubt that fermenting soy to reduce it's dangerously high bacterial and estrogen levels is the main concern for an industry bent on cutting financial corners.
Soy is of great interest to me, because of what affect it can have on men. Men should not consume Tofu or drink soy milk, unless you intentionally want to reduce your testosterone levels and kill your libido. Tofu was actually consumed by monks for that sole purpose.
I recall reading an article about a doctor treating his male patient for his lack of sexual drive and newly formed male breast (gynecomastia). To make a long story short; it seems that the man had begun consuming large amounts of soy milk, due to his lactose intolerance. His doctor advised him of course to stop, after discovering that this was the root of the problem. The man complied and over time his libido returned to normal and because his gynecomastia was free of glandular tissue, the condition was reversed.
MOMS PLEASE DO NOT FEED YOUR INFANTS SOY-BASED BABY FORMULA!!!!!! There are dairy based, organic formulas that are much safer for your child's consumption.
My next post will cover other foods and day to day items to avoid in the quest to rid your body of excess estrogen. But for right now, try to do the following:
1. Drink water from glass bottles only (drink plenty - next post tells why)
2. Consume as much organic foods as possible(meats, dairy, vegetables, fruits, etc.)
3. Avoid products that have lavender in them(especially if you're male)
4. Eat cruciferous vegetables like broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage and brusselsprouts
5. Take a good DIM (Diindolylmethane) product - It metabolizes estrogen.
6. Take Myomin a natural hormone balance
7. Take vitamin supplement zinc. It's a natural aromatase inhibitor
